Future Visits
If you are interested in the above event, then please contact Janice or complete and post the Future Visits form. CompetitionsThe Goldwork Guild would like to announce an exciting challenge to all goldwork enthusiasts. We will hold an exhibition sometime in 2010. Specific details will follow, but the theme has been loosely set around Good/Evil. Medieval artisans used good and evil as their source for design in the majority of the decoration in Christian architecture, furnishings and artefacts. This has also happened in other countries, embracing many different religions. There are many ways to interpret the subject of good/evil -- it is open to your imagination, but associated ideas could be Light/Dark, Beginning/End or Love/Hate. The exhibition held in the Forest of Dean was very successful, measured by the comments of people who visited, including those who had no idea of what goldwork is. Our next exhibition should be just as successful with your contributions, so get thinking! Goldwork Guild Exhibition - Dean Heritage CentreThere was an excellent exhibition of Goldwork at the Dean Heritage Centre the first two weeks in September 2006, where a large number of the general public paid a visit. All in all there were 54 exhibits, from Monmouth, Gloucestershire, Lincolnshire, Bristol, Isle of Wight, Essex, Birmingham, Durham, Worcestershire and Dorset. Some of the exhibits that either photographed or scanned well have been included in issue 12 of the Partworks, and Janice has included a little write-up of the event. Beware everyone..... Janice and Miranda are contemplating another competition and exhibition for 2009!!!!
